Karla has undoubtedly positioned herself as an Emerging Leader within our organisation. She was nominated for successfully leading and executing Newpol’s commitment to the ongoing enhancement of the employee experience, with a strong focus on employee wellbeing.
Through the introduction of the following employee-centric policies; Parental Leave Policy, Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy, and Menstrual Health and Wellbeing Policy, Karla has reinforced Newpol's position as a contemporary construction company. They formed part of her strategic plan to strengthen employee engagement, satisfaction, and wellbeing within our organisation.
Newpol's Menstrual Health and Wellbeing Policy, in particular, is a bold and progressive initiative that showcases Karla’s dedication to empowering women in the workplace and challenging traditional attitudes.
With the introduction of this policy, employees who menstruate can manage their symptoms without having to struggle in silence or deplete their sick or annual leave entitlements.
They feel empowered to openly and freely communicate their symptoms without fear of shame or judgment. Just as importantly, these conversations are not exclusively held among women; the men in our organisation are curious to better understand and support their colleagues in these experiences.
The status quo of how women's health is recognised and prioritised is slowly being challenged, and workplace initiatives like this policy will be crucial in supporting such change.
